The guys are back from their little hiatus fresh to discuss Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The go through the ups, the many downs. Mack goes over the trend of making our heroes old and sad and rundown. They discuss the missed opportunities and what could have been.
Episode 130 – The Traumatizing Episode
Yeah… This scene…
The guys go through different scenes in Sci-Fi that they felt were disturbing or traumatizing. They disagreed if Alien counted because it was a horror movie first, then Sci-Fi. And yes, they talk about that one scene in Never Ending Story.
Episode 129 – To AI or Not to AI
This is the first companion episode the guys explored. It felt natural to go from the fallout of genetic engineering to the development of AI and computing. They talk about the Droid Army in Star Wars, Control in Discovery and how South Park commented on AI using ChatGPT.
Episode 128 – To Genetic or Not to Genetic
The guys recap their 4th of July then get onto the topic of Genetic Engineering in Sci-Fi. They focus on Khan in Star Trek and how long lasting that legacy was throughout the franchise. They explore Star Wars and the implications of the Clones. Then they go into other franchises including a hidden gem from The Outer Limits starring Alan Ruck and the ramification of where we are now with genetic engineering.
Episode 127 – Pop Songs Popping Up in Sci-Fi

The guys spend 4th of July Eve talking about their plans for the next day. Then they get into the subject of Pop Songs being in Sci-Fi. There is a lot of instrumental, but rarely does Pop music come in. They delve into Quantum Leap, Legends of Tomorrow, and of course Star Trek. But no Star Wars.
Episode 126 – Strange New Secret Invasion
The guys take the time to discuss DT’s preferences listening to the Red Sox games. He emphasizes how much easier it is to watch the Sox while back home now. Then they get into the Season 2 premiere of Strange New Worlds and the Series premiere of Secret Invasion. Mack had some harsh thoughts on the status of NuTrek writing. But the guys were in more agreement on the quality of the Secret Invasion episode.
Episode 125 – Trek vs Wars
The guys detail their previous weekends and how Mack had his mother celebrate Father’s Day with him for the first time while he is a father. DT talks about how life is now calmer and they got to relax this year vs the previous one. Then they dig into the big debate: Are Star Wars and Star Trek more fit for TV or Film? They pretty much agree with each other but do you in fact agree with them?
Episode 124 – More Music, More Sci-Fi
The guys revisit one of their earlier episodes and talk about their favorite Sci-Fi music. They go over the Picard soundtrack, touch upon Transformers, and span all the way to other classic 80’s shows including The Greatest American Hero. The sound quality is a lot better this time around.
Episode 123 – More Documenting Documentaries
Mack and DT continue their exploration of other sci-fi documentaries including the analysis of Trekkies 2, Trek Nation, and What We Left Behind.
Episode 122 – Disassembling the Documentaries
The guys start off with Mack discussing his experience at the Matchbox 20 concert the previous night and how it almost didn’t happen several times. Then they talk about different Star Trek documentaries starting with Trekkies to Trek Nation to The Center Chair. They then realize there are others to talk about so this will turn into a two parter. And Matchbox 20 was awesome.
Episode 121 – The Main Character Dies
Mack starts the show off by showing his new audio equipment and a new era of the show hopefully. DT Critiques the new intro. And after a few discussions over new audio drops being used, they get into how main characters were killed off in sci-fi shows and movie franchises.
Episode 120 – The Muppets!
The guys go off kilter and talk first about how Taylor Swift is invading New England and shutting down basically all of Massachusetts. Mack discusses how he saw Taylor in concert when her first album came out and they go through their shared country experience. Then they get into the unexpected delight of the Muppets and how they are so important to all forms of the culture. It surprised Mack a lot.
Episode 119 – Guardians Vol 3 Discussion
The guys discuss the last installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. They were pleasantly surprised with the ending and how it was so optimistic rather than what the press was saying. They delve deeper into the lore used in the movie and how it was needed to complete the story.
Episode 118 – Mando Season 3
The guys are back! And do they have things to talk about with the latest season of Mando. They discuss their likes, dislikes, how the controversies seem somewhat silly to them. But they acknowledge that the focus is going away from Din Djarin. Who really is the Mandalorian?
Episode 116 – Unexpected Sci-Fi
The guys explore movies that one would not think of as being Sci-fi but technically are, ranging from Bednobs and Broomsticks to The Watch.
Episode 115 – Time Travel… Again…
Voyager: Timeless
The guys continue their Time Travel exploration by going through episodes of Voyager, Enterprise, and Discovery. It was the longest time trip possible, but they finally did it!!
Episode 114 – Back to Time Travel
The guys recap their St. Patrick’s day weekend. Then they get into the time travel episodes of Star Trek and The Next Generation. And of course they run out of time.
